Can You win Your Case without Social Security Disability Benefits Medical Records?

Official Transcript: Can I win my case without Social Security Disability Medical Records?

Hi I’m Sharon Christie, your nurse attorney for Social Security Disability Benefits. Let’s talk about medical records and how important they are to your case. I’ve talked to a lot of people who will say to me, well you know I just don’t go to the doctors, I don’t believe in doctors, or I know they can’t help me. Sometimes I can understand why they are saying that, why they feel that way, but for a disability case that means we have no evidence to prove your case.

As I tell my clients, I can’t prove your case without Social Security Disability Medical records or evidence. It is not enough for you to simply tell the Social Security Administration what’s wrong with you and why you’re not able to work. There has to be solid evidence to back it up and by solid evidence I mean medical evidence that shows that you are going to see doctors regularly, that shows the kind of treatment that you are receiving, or that you have tried and perhaps had to stop because it didn’t work, and shows what your overall response to treatment, and what the next step is going to be. That is all extremely important information when Social Security evaluates your case so when people ask me can I win my case without medical records my answer is pretty easy, no you cannot. We have to have sufficient medical evidence to prove during your Social Security Disability Benefits Case.
