Social Security Disability Benefits Minimum Requirements

Examining what are the Social Security Disability Benefits Minimum Requirements are with Sharon Christie Law

Learn more about what are the Social Security Disability Benefits Minimum Requirements are with Sharon Christie Law. The first requirement is that you must not be working at all or if you are working, it must be at a very minimal amount. This is because Social Security defines being disabled as having health problems that prevent you from doing any substantial gainful activity. Therefore you are not able to work at all, or can only work at a very minimal amount and that would be doing any type of job. So the requirement number one is that you are either not working or any work that you are doing is very minimal.

Requirement number two for Social Security Disability Benefits is that you have had to work long enough to be paying into the Social Security System. Now the amount you have had to work is going to depend on your age. Requirement number two varies, but basically, the rule is this: if you have worked all or most of your adult life you will have worked enough as long as you are paying Social Security Tax.

The third requirement for Social Security Disability Benefits is that you have health problems or health conditions that cause severe limitations that interfere with your ability to do your current job, your old job, or any other type of work at all. These are the Social Security Disability Benefits minimum requirements.

Requirement #1: You are either not working or any work that you are doing is very minimal

Requirement #2: You have worked all or most of your adult life and are paying your Social Security Tax

Requirement #3: Suffer from health problems or health conditions that cause severe limitations that interfere with your ability to do your current job, old job, or any other type of work at all.
